Why do I get a security warning when opening the app?

This is normal for apps downloaded outside the Mac App Store. To open:

1. Right-click (or Control-click) the app
2. Select "Open" from the menu
3. Click "Open" in the dialog
4. You only need to do this once

Why isn't FFmpeg installed?

FFmpeg is a separate open-source tool that Video Converter uses. It's not included to keep the download size small. Install it using Homebrew (see above) or download from ffmpeg.org.

Conversion is slow. How can I speed it up?

Conversion speed depends on:

• Your Mac's processor (M1/M2/M3 are faster)
• Video resolution and length
• Output format complexity
• Other running applications

Typical speed: 30-second video converts in 10-30 seconds.

What formats are supported?

Input: MP4, WEBM, AVI, MOV, MKV, FLV, WMV, MPEG, 3GP
Output: MP4, WEBM, AVI, MOV, MKV, FLV, WMV, MPEG, 3GP

Is there a file size limit?

No! Convert videos of any size. We've tested with files up to 10GB.

Can I convert multiple videos at once?

Currently, Video Converter handles one video at a time. Batch conversion is planned for a future update!

Will my videos be uploaded anywhere?

Never! All conversion happens 100% locally on your Mac. Your videos never leave your computer. That's our privacy guarantee.

❌ Error: "FFmpeg not found"

Solution: Install FFmpeg using Homebrew:
brew install ffmpeg

❌ App won't open / crashes on launch

Solutions:

1. Make sure you're running macOS 10.14 or later
2. Try right-click → Open instead of double-clicking
3. Check Console.app for error messages
4. Reinstall the app
5. Email us with the error message

❌ Conversion fails / produces empty file

Solutions:

1. Verify your input video plays in QuickTime
2. Try a different output format
3. Check that you have enough disk space
4. Update FFmpeg: brew upgrade ffmpeg
5. Contact support with the error details

❌ Output video has no sound

Solution: The input video might not have an audio track, or it's in an unsupported audio format. Try converting to MP4 or MOV which support the widest range of codecs.
